About us
The Lighthouse is a Baptist church that has been a part of the local community for almost fifty years. We value the word of God, and the Bible is the standard for all that we do. We faithfully answer the call of the Great Commission by disciplining the members of our church, so that each member has the opportunity and resources to grow in their knowledge and love for the Lord. Our desire is that as our members grow in their faith, they will become disciple-making disciples in our church body, as well as in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
Meet Our Pastors
Jim Peper
Lead Pastor
Jim Peper has been serving at The Lighthouse since December 2017 and has served as Senior Pastor since 2022. His call to ministry began shortly after his salvation in 2006 when the Lord captured his heart while he was in college. Jim is passionate about serving the Lord alongside his wife, Laura, and is the proud father of two boys, Micah and Isaiah, whom he prays will grow into faithful and God-fearing men. In 2018, Jim graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Divinity, specializing in apologetics. He draws inspiration from influential figures such as Pastor Charles Spurgeon and Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones. With a deep love for people, Jim hopes the Lord will use him and The Lighthouse to make a significant impact on the Sussex County community.
Luke Mitchell
Associate Pastor
Luke Mitchell has served as an Associate Pastor at The Lighthouse since 2019. He came to know the Lord at a young age, influenced by the faithful example of his parents. Luke’s call to ministry became clear while studying engineering at WVU, which led him to transfer to Liberty University to pursue a degree in Biblical Studies. Among other roles at The Lighthouse, Luke leads the Youth Group. He is married to Katelyn, and together they have a daughter, Gwen.
Andrew Haley
Associate Pastor
Andrew Haley has served as an Associate Pastor at The Lighthouse since 2014. He was saved at an early age and raised in a loving Christian home. Andrew’s faith was strengthened by growing up in a Christian school and being actively involved in a local youth group. During his teenage years at camp, he surrendered his life to ministry. He attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO, where he met his wife, Tiffany. In 2010, they returned to Delaware, where they have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Noel and Josie.
